How to Track Asset Valuations in NEWTON

Always Know What Your Assets Are Worth

This guide shows you how to set up valuation types and add valuations to your assets, so your team always has an accurate, up-to-date picture of portfolio value.

Whether you’re managing real estate, fund assets, or other investment structures, keeping track of valuations is part of the job. With NEWTON’s Asset Valuation feature, you can record and manage valuations directly in the platform, by type, by date, and with totals calculated automatically on your dashboard.

Why This Matters

Valuations change. Purchase prices, current market values, and loan collateral figures all serve different purposes, and they need to be tracked separately. Doing this in spreadsheets means manual updates, version confusion, and data that quickly goes stale.

NEWTON keeps it all in one place, structured and accessible.

How This Helps You:

  • Record multiple valuation types per asset, each with its own date and currency
  • Define the valuation types that fit your reporting logic (e.g. Market Value, Purchase Price, Loan Value)
  • See aggregated totals directly on your dashboard, no manual calculation needed
  • Keep a clear history of valuation changes over time

Step-by-Step: Add a Valuation to an Asset

  1. Go to Assets and open the asset you want to valuate.
  2. Click the Valuation tab in the asset detail view.
  3. Click Add Valuation and enter the date, value, currency, and type.
  4. Save. The entry will appear in the valuation table and feed into your dashboard totals.

To configure which valuation types are available, go to Configuration and manage your valuation types there.

Pro Tip

Use consistent valuation types across all assets in a project. That way, your dashboard totals are comparing like for like, which matters especially when you’re reporting to investors or preparing for audits.

NEWTON keeps your asset data structured, so your reporting stays reliable.
