A second pair of eyes on every bank signatory change

The 4-Eyes-Principle in NEWTON means a change to a bank account signatory only takes effect after a second authorised user confirms the Change Request.

NEWTON Change Request for a bank account signatory awaiting second review

Bank account signatories are some of the most sensitive data you manage. Who is allowed to change them, and does anyone else look before the change goes live?

In NEWTON, the new 4-Eyes-Principle (4EP) module answers that. Any change to a bank account signatory now needs a second person to confirm it before it takes effect. No single click changes who can sign for your accounts.

What is the 4-Eyes-Principle?

The 4-Eyes-Principle is a control many finance and operations teams already apply to payments and mandates: one person makes a change, a second person checks it. The 4EP module brings this into NEWTON, so the control sits where the data lives instead of in a side process.

What’s included

4EP is a separate module, available on the Enterprise plan. It requires the Treasury module to be active, since bank account signatories sit within Treasury.

Beyond bank account signatories, 4EP can also be applied to other sensitive fields, such as an entity’s legal form. Support for additional fields is added on a case-by-case basis, so if there’s a field you’d like protected, get in touch with your NEWTON contact.

How it works

  1. Get in touch with your NEWTON contact to enable 4-Eyes-Principle for bank account signatories (Enterprise plan and active Treasury module required).
  2. Once enabled, any change to a signatory in your entity’s Treasury settings creates a Change Request instead of saving directly.
  3. A second authorised user reviews and confirms the Change Request before it goes live.
  4. Want the same control elsewhere? 4EP can also be applied to fields such as legal form, on request.

How this helps you

  • Adds a second review step to your most sensitive treasury data
  • Gives your auditors a clear, documented review trail
  • Extends beyond signatories to other critical fields, such as an entity’s legal form

Perfect for

  • Treasury teams managing bank mandates across multiple entities
  • Fund administrators who need a documented four-eyes control for auditors
  • Operations teams responsible for internal controls and sign-off processes
